Ecuador Day 3

Today is Wednesday Dec. 7th.  Zac got up early this morning and went down to the common area and did some work.  I was able to sleep in until 9:30! I can't remember the last time that has ever happened...and guessing it won't happen again for a long long time.

We had a pretty lazy day of Zac working and me doing more stuff around the apartment.  I hung some lights up around the window in what will be Sister's room as well as our stockings.  We had some lunch and Zac took a "lunch break" from work and we went to a local Co-op market that Xavier, the manager, told us about.  It was wonderful.  So much fresh fruits and vegetables, all locally grown..and even organic!  Many of the things I had not seen before and didn't know what they were exactly due to the names being in Spanish..we are working on getting a "guide" to go with us sometime next week to show us around to the must see places...and we'll have to go back there so they can explain some of these interesting fruits!

For dinner I made potatoes, onions, green peppers, fresh garlic, and sliced ham all sauteed up and cooked in a pan with some butter.  It was pretty good but definitely missing some basic seasonings, salt, pepper, etc..

I spent most of the night doing some reading and getting the blog updated. =)

Someone that lives in this area must have a car that is not doing so well because last night what I originally thought was fireworks, then I thought gun shots, but then we realized it was a care backfiring...a lot...it did it last night for quite a while and then started up again this morning at 5:00.  Lovely.

We are now just waiting for 8:45 to come so we can head to the orphanage. Very excited.  We are taking a groovy girls doll, some bubbles, a mini magna doodle, and some children's books in Spanish...and of course our camera and video camera. We have donations for the orphanage and gifts for the workers, but we will take those tomorrow or Saturday.  Carmen and Priscilla have both already said they'd make sure to take lots of pics for us. So thankful for that.
